What should I know about card reservations for bookings and onboard purchases?

Pre-payment by credit card:

Booking payments are first registered as a reserved amount. Once the transaction is completed, the reservation is normally released.

Onboard account:

A credit card is registered per cabin at check-in and is used for all onboard purchases.

An initial 10 NOK reservation is made to verify the card.

Havila Voyages may also place a daily pre-authorization to cover purchases charged to your cabin.

Release of reserved amounts:

In some cases, the reserved amount may not be released immediately. It can be held by the bank for up to 30 days after the transaction. This is a pre-authorization, not an actual transaction, and cannot be refunded manually.
