My luggage was damaged, what do I do?

Report the damage
Hand luggage: report before or during disembarkation.
Checked-in luggage: report immediately after collection/delivery.

Please contact the crew to fill out a Damaged Luggage Form and remember to take clear photos of the damages.

Non-obvious damage or loss:
Report no later than 15 days after disembarkation or from the time the luggage should have been delivered.

Important: If damage or loss is not reported within these deadlines, the luggage is considered delivered in good condition unless proven otherwise.

Submitting a claim:
Claims must be submitted either on board or via our website:

https://www.havilavoyages.com/complaints and refunds

To review liability and a potential compensation, please include the following documentation:

  • A copy of the damage report
  • Photos showing the damage
  • Brand and type of suitcase
  • Documentation of purchase date and price (e.g. receipt)

Compensation:
Depending on the damage, we may repair your luggage or compensate its value at the time of damage. Small scratches, marks, dents, or other minor wear from normal transport are not compensated. In cases of compensation for checked-in luggage we will apply a 10% per year depreciation.

If no documentation is provided, a standard compensation of 500 NOK may be applied if we are liable for the damages.

Damage to the contents of your luggage should be handled via your insurance company.

Onboard replacement:
In some cases, luggage may be replaced on board if spare suitcases are available.
